Senior Piano Discipline Coordinator

Description
This position manages the week of Senior Piano competition within our Festival (in 2025 that will be March 23 – 29, ending with a small concert on the 29th). You are familiar with the Royal Conservatory of Music Piano Syllabus which will help you proofread the entries to ensure the proper repertoire is performed in the correct grades/classes. During the week of Senior Piano you will occasionally help the Adjudicator as an Assistant (we have other people helping as well but it’s good for you to experience the Festival in this manner). As a very organized person, you will manage how the trophies are awarded and how the Provincials recommendations are given. Training is provided and you will work as part of the Festival Team.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
By taking on this leadership volunteer role with our festival, you will know that you have helped dozens of young people on their musical journey. You will have the chance to listen to truly amazing music throughout the week, and indeed throughout the month of the Festival if you so choose.
How will the organization benefit?
We need an organized and level-headed person to manage this very important part of our Festival. We are looking for someone who is willing to do this for a number of years, although the actual volunteering is only for a few weeks each spring. The learning curve is quite steep so it makes sense to commit for more than one year. Again, please note that there will be full training and that you will be part of the Festival Team.
Volunteer location:
Senor Piano will take place at Emmanuel United Church, 691 Smyth Rd, Ottawa, K1G 1N7. The Festival office is close by, 934A Hamlet Rd, Ottawa, K1G 1R5
