Snoezelen Volunteer

Description
Snoezelen is a therapeutic environment created for the express purpose of delivering high levels of stimuli in people with dementia. A private room displays optical illusions with combined lighting effects, aromas, colors, textures and sounds to stimulate a persons visual, olfactory and auditory systems. Sensory therapy has helped to increase awareness and has proven effective in improving moods for those living with dementia.
Volunteers with this position are required to have some experience supporting older adults with dementia. Volunteers must be comfortable working independently.
This program is best offered during the morning or afternoon. Weekend time slots are available.
Please Note: Volunteers at The Glebe Centre LTC are required to complete Tuberculosis Screening Test and obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check as part of the application process.
