Team lead (Communications or Outreach) - 2 positions
Foodsharing Ottawa (FSO) has been rescuing food in Canada’s capital since 2015. Our vision is that “All food is valued and never goes to waste in our community”. We are also passionate about supporting fairer, more sustainable ways of distributing, using and disposing of food. We are looking for people who are motivated and share this passion to lead our volunteer teams in Communications and marketing, and in Outreach.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals to help FSO oversee our teams of volunteers (2-5 each) who work behind the scenes on communications and marketing, and on Outreach activities. We value the following:

integrity, responsible, perseverance, exercises good judgment
excellent interpersonal skills to encourage and motivate others, team player
As a lead of the Communications team, you will oversee activities to formulate and communicate Foodsharing Ottawa’s messaging and branding through various methods and platforms. The Communications team also provides support to other teams to ensure coherent messaging.
As a lead for the Outreach team, you will oversee activities to engage community members on the organization’s mission to reduce waste (e.g. to become food donors, to identify opportunities for redistributing surplus food, to promote the benefits of reducing food waste from a community and/or environmental perspective).
You will also be working with other FSO team members (e.g. in food rescue, community fridge project, communications, outreach). Additional administrative tasks may also be required.
If you would like to make a positive impact in your community and reduce food waste, this may be for you. We look forward to hearing from you! Providing a covering letter and/or CV will allow us to know a little more about you and why you would like to join our team.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
You will be part of a greater movement to reduce food waste. (Did you know that ½ of the food in Canada is wasted?)
You will have an opportunity to meet new people in the community

You will have an opportunity to gain leadership experience
How will the organization benefit?
FSO will be able to continue to grow by increasing the diversity of skills of the team and increasing its presence in the community
FSO will be able to establish a sustainable program which provides an alternative for sharing food with those who can use it, instead of letting it go to waste.
