This position is available on Thursday morning from 8:45am-10:30am.
During breakfast time, volunteers greet, take meal orders, and serve our community members as they visit for a bite to eat. Due to COVID restrictions and new safety protocols beverages/meals are no longer self-serve for guests.
The volunteer will also assist staff in setup or packaging of meals and perhaps table cleanup.
Candidates must be 19+ years of age, double vaccinated, wear a provided N95 mask and able to climb stairs. Some standing and twisting also involved. Community members are served in a socially distanced manner and staff members sanitize areas after each guest.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
The volunteer will be part of a lively staff and volunteer team. The volunteer reports to the Volunteer coordinator.
You will be assisting the Centre 507 to provide meals to its diverse Participants. Our provision of food and refreshments have been identified as essential service by the City of Ottawa. Many volunteers feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment and connection to a community. You will engage community members, assist with food security and be working in a team with other staff and volunteers.
Volunteer location:
Centre 507 is an adult drop-in centre and support service, open to all who seek a safe and friendly environment. Serving Ottawa since 1983, the centre is at 507 Bank Street near the corner of Argyle.
