Code Youth is searching for a volunteer Treasurer. The ideal person will have a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation, experience in, and knowledge of not for profit organizations and be willing to attend meetings every two months, and become familiar with the processes and systems used by the organization. Meetings at present are virtual.
The Treasurer monitors the financial performance of the organization, supervises the organization’s financial condition and reports to the Board on deviations and the general financial position of the organzation.
The Treasurer should have knowledge of Code Youth’s mission and goals and commitment to the work of the organization
• Works with the bookkeeper on required budgets and financial reports to be presented to the Board
• Ensures accounting systems and procedures are appropriate and fulfill all regulatory requirements;
• Assure that accounting records are maintained as required by law
Code Youth was established by a group of volunteers to develop training in computer coding and to explore employment solutions in basic technology coding positions for youth at risk, including high school drop-outs, those with low literacy and numeracy skills and lack of family/social support, those with learning disabilities and, most recently, youth who do not return to school after a prolonged absence due to the school closings because of COVID-19.
