TROtt Foundation Directors of the Board
Description
TROtt Foundation
The TROtt Foundation is a registered charity to support the funding needs of the Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton (TROtt Inc). TROtt Foundation partially subsidizes, supports the funding needs, and works to ensure the financial sustainability of TROtt Inc.
The Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa Carleton Inc. (TROtt) is a registered charity where children and adults living with disabilities have a great time, while gaining the physical, mental and cognitive benefits of evidence-based activities with horses. With the help of specially trained horses and over 160 wonderful volunteers, our certified staff provide accessible and inclusive riding and non-mounted programs for people with a variety of physical, mental, developmental and learning disabilities.
The Foundation’s volunteer Board of Directors has traditionally focused on managing an investment fund that generates revenues needed to partially offset TROtt’s operational costs.
However, the Foundation’s mandate has recently been expanded to include a significant fundraising element required to address TROtt’s upcoming short and long-term capital needs. Enabling the Foundation to meet this new objective requires an adjustment to the knowledge and experience capabilities of the existing Board.
Board members serve a two-year term which may be renewed for an additional two years.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
The volunteer will have the opportunity to work with a wonderful organization that is making a direct impact in improving the lives of people with disabilities. The volunteer will have the support of a wonderful and distinct Board of Directors overseeing the operational side of TROtt. This is a very dynamic time for TROtt Inc. and the TROtt Foundation as we significantly expand the number of people we serve and the variety of programs we offer.
How will the organization benefit?
The TROtt Foundation is searching for three volunteer directors and would particularly benefit from individuals that have experience in raising large pools of capital whether through capital campaigns, grants or large fundraising events, and/or managing an investment fund.
The TROtt Foundation would greatly benefit from candidates that have strong links to the Ottawa community.
Candidates are not required to have a background in working with horses.
