Pride Capital Volleyball is seeking a self-driven, motivated, and energized volunteer to join our leadership team in the role of Vice-President (Finance).
This role is an executive role that is appointed by the PCV Board of Directors for one year at a time. The position reports to the President of the Organization and is responsible for the organization’s Finance Department. The role has two direct reports: Grants & Proposals Manager and the Accounting Manager.
PCV’s Policy on Roles and Responsibilities outlines the position’s task:
– Maintain custody of PCV funds and a complete record of all financial transactions;
– Oversee the application of PCV’s financial policy, procedures, and internal controls to protect against mismanagement, fraud, theft, or abuse;
– Ensure legal compliance with all applicable financial and tax requirements;
– Prepare PCV’s annual budget and periodic budget amendments as required;
– Ensure all expenditures have a source of funds and respect budget allocations;
– Provide quarterly updates to the Board of Directors, as required;
– Prepare and certify annual financial statements for Board approval and presentation to Annual General Meetings of the Members (AGM);
– Supervise and support the direct reports;
– Liaise with PCV’s auditor as required;
– Serve on the Policy, Finance and Governance Committee; and,
– Perform such other duties upon request of the President.
A strong candidate should have experience managing a budget, providing internal financial advice, and leading a team.
Pride Capital Volleyball is an inclusive volleyball league in the National Capital region. Volunteers of the organization are expected to implement principles of inclusivity in their role.
The time commitment of the role may vary throughout the year. A few hours per week should be expected at a minimum with additional time requirements surrounding the drafting of the annual budget and filings. The Vice-President (Finance) also sits on the Finance Committee, as a non-voting member and is invited to attend monthly board meetings.
Volunteer location:
Some board meetings take place in-person in Gloucester.
