Description

Waupoos Family Farm is a registered non-profit organization with a unique charitable mission to serve families that live below the poverty line through facilitating a community experience. We provide families with children 16 and under with affordable vacation opportunities during summer and select long weekends during the rest of the year.

Many of the families who come to enjoy the farm require a ride to get here and/or back home. If you are available to provide occasional rides, please contact us. Must have own vehicle

A criminal records check (vulnerable sector) is required (no charge for volunteers at this time) Volunteers are contacted about 1-2 weeks in advance when a family needs a ride to and from the farm. When volunteers are available for these dates, they indicate their willingness to assist.

Here are the times we need help with transportation for families:
Summer 2022.
*Arrival at Waupoos Farm on Tuesday afternoons between 3-6 PM.
*Departure on Sunday morning around 11 AM

We have car seats available if the family or the driver does not have them.

Individuals who have a van are especially needed but all volunteers are welcome as some families are small.

How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
It is a gift to help a family to come to Waupoos Farm for a family vacation. The children and parents are excited and perhaps a bit apprehensive, especially if it is their first visit. The volunteer driver helps make a vacation happen for a family who could not otherwise have this opportunity. Previous volunteers loved driving families as the enthusiasm of the children and parent(s) is contagious and you leave knowing you have made such a difference in their lives!!
How will the organization benefit?
We need volunteers to assist with transportation. Many low-income families do not have access to a vehicle and Waupoos Farm is not located on any city bus routes.
Volunteer location:
Transportation to and from Waupoos Farm at 2050 Rideau Road (south of the Ottawa airport)
