Matthew House Ottawa refugee services program is looking to create a roster of volunteer handymen who would be contacted upon need to respond to the maintenance issues at the organization’s refugee houses. The maintenance volunteer performs tasks related to the following:
• Plumbing
• Painting
• Gardening
• Locksmithing
• Roofing
• Electrician
• Carpentry/ Cabinet making
• Interior decoration
• Upholstery
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
Since 2010, Matthew House Ottawa has housed hundreds of refugee claimants. We have done this with a large, dedicated team of volunteers and a small handful of employees, and a lot of passion and commitment. Our volunteers make an important contribution to making the work of Matthew House Ottawa possible. The handyman volunteers will ensure the refugee claimant residents live in a safe and comfortable space where they can receive the services, they need to start their new life in Canada.
How will the organization benefit?
Volunteers are crucial to the work of Matthew House Ottawa. The direct support volunteers substantially contribute to the refugee services and help the program enhance its services to the residents.
