Volunteer Opportunity – Technology Mentors
Description
Are you passionate about volunteering with older adults and people with disabilities and comfortable with technology?
OFP is seeking volunteers to train to become technology mentors to seniors and people with disabilities in our community.
As a new tech mentor, you will receive 5 hours of training. You will be given the opportunity to share your basic technology skills and knowledge with seniors and people with disabilities by learning how to offer this support virtually or in person, with a focus on the steps to take to ensure learning – and a great experience! Whether it’s guiding them through computer basics, teaching them how to use smartphones, or helping them navigate their tablet, you can help clients gain confidence in today’s digital-driven world.
OFP is also looking for those interested in helping to train future volunteers through role-play practice sessions. Basic knowledge of Zoom is recommended.
Access to technology training is crucial for seniors and people with disabilities to bridge the digital divide, stay connected, and foster independence. With your help, we can make a difference!
Commitment required: 6 – 12 months
Starts: Beginning of September, 2023
Setting: In – person or Virtual
