The Treasurer is a member of the Executive of the Board of Directors and is a required position according to Twice Upon a Time bylaws. The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining an overview of Twice Upon a Time’s financial affairs, ensuring its viability, and that proper financial procedures are maintained.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
General financial oversight
• Work with the Board of Directors to prepare annual operating budgets;
• Oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements;
• Ensure appropriate
• accounting measures, procedures and controls are in place;
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial legislation and governing documents;
• Work with the audit team during the audit of financial records, as needed;
• Ensure accounts meet the conditions of contractual agreements with external agencies such as funders and statutory bodies; and
• Conduct day-to-day banking transactions, including reviewing accounts, making and recording deposits, and writing cheques or e-transfer for payments and reimbursements.

Financial planning and reporting
• Assume a leadership role on the Board and in other initiatives related to financial matters;
• Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Board of Directors to accurately reflect the financial situation of Twice Upon a Time;
• Advise on the financial implications of Twice Upon a Time’s strategic and operational plans;
• Advise on Twice Upon a Time’s fundraising strategies;
• Prepare and present the accounts at the Annual General Meeting (AGM); and
• Prepare and submit charity information return to the Canada Revenue Agency.

Other
• Is a member of and works closely with the Fundraising and Acquisitions Committees; and
• Issue tax receipts for donations.

Along with other members of the Executive, the Treasurer will:
• Have signing authority for banking; and
• Approve expenditures, per the Delegation of Authority Framework.

Along with other members of the Board, the Treasurer may:
• Bring potential new relationships and partnerships with like-minded organizations to the Board for consideration; and
• Participate in succession planning and the nomination of new Board members.

Estimated time commitment: 8-10 hours per month.
