Description
We will be getting together to make envelopes for the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library. It’s super easy to do and everyone is welcome.
There is no need to sign up, you can just join us there! April 19 from 9:30-11:30 am at Ray Friel Recreation Complex, 1585 Tenth Line Rd
The Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library gives away native wildflower, bush, vine and tree seeds throughout Ontario and eastern Canada. We mailed out over 100,000 handmade envelopes of free seeds this winter, and gave away many at our Ottawa events. We will be making envelopes on the listed dates, and there are also opportunities to make envelopes on your own.
How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
It’s a great introduction to the seed library and our wonderful volunteers. If you want to learn about native plants and ecosystem creation, it’s a good time to ask questions. You can also get student volunteer hours.
How will the organization benefit?
We are a 100% volunteer organization. From growing native plants, collecting seeds, making envelopes, packing seeds, giving away seeds and seedlings at events, then mailing out the rest of the seeds, all these are possible because of our amazing volunteer community. We also have information tables at community events. Our goal is to create native plant ecosystems to support our native pollinators, birds and other wildlife.
