Description

Youth mentors collaborate and work closely with the YSS technical team to implement various program activities that enhance both youth skill development and empowerment. Through the existing community structures, Youth mentors with the support of program staff, will intervene in the identification and enrollment of program mentees as well as delivering services to them. YSS’s service delivery point is “Safe Space” where youth (facilitated by youth mentors) come together to learn and exchange skills around life skills, financial literacy, career choices and planning, and mental health among others. Youth mentors are supported to get both internal and external pieces of training to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to support our communities.

How will this opportunity benefit the volunteer?
YSS Canada believes in the power of "Giving Back to the Community". Youth Mentor Volunteer opportunity will not only be an opportunity to give back to the community but also an opportunity to LEARN and SHARE. YSS will provide the support, tools, and resources needed for youth mentors to be fully engaged and contribute to our cause to support the community. With capacity-building opportunities and while implementing program activities, Youth mentors will benefit from YSS networks and community engagement. Based on previous live experience, this is a great opportunity for youth mentors to share their talents, learn new skills, and develop a sense of community belonging.
How will the organization benefit?
In today's world, there is a need to work together more than ever to bring innovative solutions to complex challenges facing our communities. At YSS, we value the impact made by community volunteers and we couldn't really achieve what we are achieving without volunteers' support and engagement. As an organization, with youth mentors, we will be able to support and reach more youth with program services in different areas.
