Five Behaviours of a Cohesive Team

Is your team under-performing? Would you like your team to be more cohesive? Communications Planning for NFPs

Many not-for-profits cast their communications net at the ‘general public’ using every method possible, without measuring what’s working—ultimately losing opportunities to generate meaningful results and real change. In this 3-hour working session, you’ll be guided through the process to create an effective communications plan, from setting goals and understanding your target audiences, to crafting key messages and making informed decisions between communication methods. Together we’ll develop your plan and then determine the materials (brochures, website, social media, etc.) that actually reach your target audience and motivate them to take action.

Working with the Media

Does just the thought of calling a journalist make you sweat? And what about actually doing the interview? What will you say and how will you prepare for difficult questions? Volunteer Ottawa is collaborating with Heather Badenoch of Village PR to bring you this timely and important workshop which will help you learn how to handle a media request and how to ace a media interview.

Crisis Communications

A staff member accused of theft, facility-wide food poisoning, the death of a client, or a flu outbreak. Every organization is vulnerable to a reputational crisis. More so when you support vulnerable people. It’s in the news every day. When crisis occurs, people want information. There are dos and don’ts to communicating internally with staff and stakeholders and externally with media. This workshop will help you plan for public relations during a crisis and put in place the steps to follow in order to manage your message during such a difficult time.

Fill Your Social Media Toolbox

This three-hour workshop will look at all the options of platforms you have with social media, and the tools needed to use them effectively.  We’ve taken the time to break down the tools and resources you need, and will help you use your time as effectively as possible on social media with measurement, campaign management, and analytics that matter. Bring your laptop to this interactive session. You will have a chance to compose and schedule posts, and explore the free analytic tools which come with each of these applications.

Web Design: Introductory WordPress for Not-For-Profits

Your website is the destination for your current and potential supporters to find all the information they need to know about you. It needs to be as user-friendly and informative as possible, to keep these individuals engaged, sharing information about you on social media, and coming back to support your organization in the future. WordPress is a free content management system that allows you to build and manage your own Website or blog.

Uncover your Website’s Secrets with Google Analytics

Your website tells a powerful story about your business. Google Analytics is key to unlocking that story, but you need to ask the right questions. This beginner-level seminar shows you where your real website story lies in Google Analytics.  For example your most valuable versus most popular pages and traffic sources.  We’ll briefly talk about proper installation methods and then get into reports reading and setup. Bring your questions, and be ready to have some fun!

Google Advertising for Not-For-Profit Organizations

Did you know that as a Not for Profit (NPO) you are entitled to free advertising on Google? It’s called Google Grants and it offers $10,000 per month in advertising to promote your NPO. You can use the ads to promote your organization’s benefits, raise money, recruit volunteers and much more. Google advertising can catapult you to the top of search result listings at no cost. And, it is one of the most effective types of advertising because it captures people in the moment they are searching. This workshop shows NPOs how to apply for the grant and then how to set up and manage your account.
